Alternatives
A Nike Run Club alternative, for when you want your data
Waypath is an alternative to Strava, Runkeeper, Nike Run Club, Komoot and AllTrails for runners and trail runners.
Nike Run Club is free, polished and full of guided runs, and none of that is the reason people search for an alternative. The reason is almost always the same one: after a few years of running, they want their history somewhere they can take it. This page is about that, and about what you would give up.
The reason people leave
Getting your runs out of Nike Run Club
Nike Run Club has no official way to export your runs. The workarounds that exist are third-party tools and scripts that read the account through Nike's servers, and they come and go. If you have five years of runs in the app, that history is easy to look at and hard to move.
Waypath takes the opposite position: every activity exports as a GPX 1.1 file, with elevation and a timestamp on every point, on the free plan, with no subscription. The file loads into Strava, Garmin Connect, TrainingPeaks or a folder you keep. Whatever else you decide about the two apps, that difference is fixed, and it is the one that compounds over years.
In practice
What actually comes across
If your Nike runs were recorded on an Apple Watch, they are probably in Apple Health, and Waypath imports past workouts from Health, with route and heart rate where Health has them. For many Watch users that is most of a training history in one import. If your runs were recorded on the phone alone, check Health first; some are there, some are not.
What Waypath cannot do yet is read a GPX file you hand it. So if you use one of the third-party exporters to get GPX files out of Nike, those files cannot be loaded into Waypath today. That is a real gap, it is on the roadmap, and this page will change when the app does.
What you get
What Waypath has that Nike Run Club does not
Export, on every run
GPX 1.1 with elevation and per-point time, free, one tap. The reason this page exists.
426,029 waymarked trails
In 37 countries and 75 curated regions, rebuilt monthly from OpenStreetMap, with dated condition reports from people who were just there. Nike Run Club has no trail catalogue.
A live link for anyone
Someone watches your run from a browser with no app and no account, free. For an event, the organiser draws the course and the field appears on it.
A pacer that reads hills
The Ghost Runner holds your effort rather than a flat pace, using the climbs ahead. On the wrist, the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island. Part of Premium.
Numbers that admit uncertainty
Race predictions and VO₂max say whether they are fitted to your data or the standard model. Readiness is against your own 28-day baselines.
Data in the EEA

The other side
What Nike Run Club has that Waypath does not
- Guided runs and plans. Nike's audio-guided runs and structured plans up to marathon distance are its real product. Waypath has no guided audio sessions and does not write training plans.
- Entirely free. Nike Run Club has no paid tier. Waypath's free tier covers recording, live sharing, one saved route and export; the analysis layer is a $29.99 a year subscription or a $59.99 lifetime purchase.
- Android. Nike Run Club is on Android. Waypath is iPhone and Apple Watch only; an Android app is planned for January 2027.
- A brand's community. Nike's challenges and events have a scale a one-developer app does not.
