Community Rules
Six rules. They apply to every activity, comment, club post, photo and message on Waypath. The same six are in the app, under Settings → Community Rules, so you can read them without a signal.
The six
1. No harassment, no hate
Nothing that attacks somebody for who they are, and nothing aimed at frightening or humiliating a person. This is the one we remove accounts for, not just posts.
2. Nothing sexual, nothing graphic
No nudity, no sexual content, no gore. Waypath is a training log that several people read over each other's shoulders.
3. Be yourself
Do not impersonate another athlete, a club or a race. Do not post somebody else's photo as your own run.
4. Somebody else's address is not yours to post
Do not publish where another person lives, works or trains. Your own start point is trimmed automatically; theirs is not yours to reveal.
5. No spam, no selling
No advertising, no affiliate links, no bulk-posting, and no herding people onto another service from a club wall.
6. Meet safely
Open events are open to anybody, and we do not verify who registers for one. Meet in a public place, tell somebody where you are going and when you expect to be back, and leave if you are uncomfortable. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services — Waypath is not a safety service and live sharing does not make it one.
What happens when you report something
Every report is read within 24 hours. Anything reported by three different people is hidden straight away, before anybody has looked at it — the hiding is automatic precisely so that it does not wait for us to wake up.
Breaking these rules gets the content removed. Doing it to a person gets the account removed.
You can report an account, an activity, a comment, a club post, a trail review and a trail photo, each from the control next to it in the app.
What we can and cannot see
We are straightforward about this, because it decides what moderation can do.
- Direct messages and club chat are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read them, so we cannot moderate their contents — nobody can, including us. What we can act on is the account: reporting and blocking work from every messaging screen.
- Club walls, comments, captions, reviews and profiles are not encrypted, because a post has to be readable by whoever joins the club next month. Those are filtered as they are written and can be hidden after the fact.
- Photographs are not read by anything. A picture cannot be filtered by a word list; images rely on reporting, on the automatic hiding at three reporters, and on the block.
Blocking
You can block anybody from their profile. Blocking is immediate, it works in both directions — neither of you sees the other's activities, clubs, events, challenges, club posts or messages — and they are not told. Everyone you have blocked is listed under Settings, so a block made in anger three weeks ago is findable.
Age
You must be 16 or over to create a Waypath account. Recording your own activities does not require one and is not age-restricted.
Reaching a person
Moderation questions, appeals against a removal, and anything urgent go to the same address as everything else. A real person reads it.
