Feature
GPX, and getting your data out
Every activity in Waypath exports as a GPX file, because data you cannot take with you is not really yours. This page is also straight about the other direction, which is not finished.
Export
Any activity, as a GPX file
Open an activity and export it. The file is a standard GPX 1.1 track: one track with one segment of points, each carrying latitude, longitude, elevation and its own timestamp. That is the universal interchange format, so it loads into Strava, Garmin Connect, TrainingPeaks, a coach's software or a folder you keep yourself.
The export is the full recording from your device, not the trimmed version used for public sharing. It is your copy of your run.
Import
What can come in today
Apple Health
Waypath imports past workouts from Health, which is how most people arrive with a history rather than an empty app. Anything that writes to Health, including a Garmin or a Coros through their own apps, can reach Waypath this way.
Routes
Draw a route on the map, save it, and follow it live while you record. Routes can also start from a trail in the catalogue.
GPX file import: not yet
Waypath does not currently read a GPX file you hand it. It is a known gap and it is on the roadmap. This page will change when the app does, and not before.
Why it matters
No lock-in, on purpose
An app that makes leaving expensive is telling you something about how it expects to keep you. Waypath keeps activities on your phone, exports them in an open format, and lets you delete the lot. The reason to stay should be that the app is good.
